E-10 Petrol
Hi everyone, I need some advice, I have a Petrol Ford Fiesta 2009 plate. I am a little concerned about my car's compatibility with this new fuel. The government website states that E10 is cleared for use in all petrol-driven Ford models sold in Europe since 1992 excluding:
- Ford Mondeo 1.8 SCI from 2003 to 2007.This model and Ford models sold before 1992 should continue to use E5. But still, I am unsure, any advice would be most welcome, thank you.
I would not call this advice, but I believe your vehicle needs to stay with E5. They also caution that E10 if left in the tank for a long period of time in classic vehicles will cause problems with plastics etc. Make sure before you pull into a station to fill up that they have E5 available. The price will probably go up too.
Will add as I gather more info.
You should check with a dealership, because the year, engine and a few other things are what determines if you can use E10 or not.
The last info I came across was from Shell and the article stated vehicles with petrol engines manufactured 2011 and newer were OK to use E10.
