Question F350 DEF Sensor

Cannot be remedies, sensors replaced - still not working correctly. When does Ford call it a recall issue? We are out of state and not sure how we will get home.

It would be nice if you provided more information.I can't help you on a method of transportation home bound. Recalls usually are issued for problems related to safety.

The DEF system warning lights come on. The truck will shut down after so many miles. For a short time it seemed to reset itself, then finally went to idle. I would consider it a safety issue when the vehicle stops in traffic. Our truck has been in shop for about two months.
The local Ford dealership has been very helpful. It has been to service two times to replace sensors in DEF system. The problem is the new sensors are also faulty, as we have the same issue. Now, new sensors are not available for the Ford service department to replace them again.
We have spoken to other new (2021 F 350) owners that also get DEF warning lights. Their issues have not been as serious as ours. It appears that the Ford service staff are aware of DEF sensor issues, as well as the lack of availability of replacements. They are at a loss on how to help us, and again have been as helpful as they could be.

An SCR system, (selective catalyst reduction) is supposed to filter out carbon and keep it from going out into the air.

Those particles eventually need to be removed , so they get burned off. This is done with a regeneration cycle.
Most of the time the DPF (Diesel particulate Filter) gets hot enough with high peed driving and this takes care of it automatically.. With enough low speed driving the filter gets to the point where a manual regen cycle is called for. This is posted on the dash with a yellow indicator indicating this needs to be done now. The vehicle is parked and the engine will speed up to a hi RPM sometimes for at least 20 minutes and the temp of the DPF will get very hot.All this is done automatically when parked .
IF THIS IS NOT DONE, A POWER LOSS OCCURS UNTIL IT IS DONE.
At this point it is unknown just what is going on , so can't suggest any measures to correct. Your owner's manual should explain all this.
