Ford Certified Tire Issue
Just purchased used Ford Certified Explorer that had new Kelly tires on it. After a week was the 1st time I got the suv above 55mph. At 55mph a vibration starts. It was determined at my local Ford dealer after 3 days of thorough investigation to be tires as the issue. It is currently still at service station and they have a different set of tires on it and it rides smooth. I purchased the suv at Ford dealership in Florida and I live in NC where car is now. My question is who if anybody should cover some of the cost for me to buy new tires? Ford dealership in Florida states right on there website that “Buying a CPO vehicle makes sense cause you get a like-new vehicle for a used price”.
Things to consider...
What did your local Dealer do to determine that it was the Kelly tires?
Did they try the re-balance the Kelly's and was one or more non-balanceable?
Did the Kelly tires look like thay have/had uneven wear on the front and/or rear tires?
Who put the Kelly tires on the vehicle? If Dealer, you may have a foot to stand on.
If previous owner, I don't think you have any chance unless it's a Quality and caring Dealer.

I think I would ask them more as to why they think it's the Kelly tires . I think I would say put those tires back on and I would go to a dealer that sells Kelly tires and have them check the tires out . Maybe they need to be balanced . What Common sense advised was good too. Hope it's not too late but I would not put different tires on yet .
