Default Ford extended warranty

I have a 2014 Ford F-150 platinum that I purchased new in 2014 and purchased the ford extended warranty. I paid for the highest and most expensive warranty available. Well my truck just rolled over 60k and my rear defroster is not working anymore. I think “no problem I have an extended warranty” so I call my ford dealer and they hit me with “yea that’s not covered under the extended warranty” I’m pretty pissed off about it because then I was told the fix is over $1000 and they said it was a known problem but they can’t do anything about it. Has anyone had any experience like this? So I paid for a nice truck, paid for th best warranty, and now I’m left to fix it all out of my own pocket

Have you checked with another Dealer? Could be Dealer doesn't want to bother with it sense warranty work doesn't pay very much. Especially when it's a more time consuming repair.

I had the exact situation happen to me. I think we paid $2,500 for the extended warranty. At the time, we were told it was an extension of the factory warranty. When my rear defroster quit working, they told me that the entire rear window would have to be replaced. My dealership went to bat with Ford for me and got them to help out. In the end, I think we were about $600 out of pocket

My rear defrost on my 2012 F150 did the same thing and they said no one knows how to fix it so they have to replace the whole back window. As for the warranty think of these just like insurance because that is what they are. Insurance companies are for profit organizations so they are in business to make money not give it to you. If you have your policy you should read it and see what is covered. Insurance contracts must be kept. Insurance companies can make it difficult to get preauthorizations for service and can drag the process out. But if your contract says a service is covered, they have to cover it. Go to a couple Ford dealers if you must. Get a helpful service agent on the phone and get their extension so you can call them back. All claims can be approved, its just a hassle to do. My job is dealing with healthcare insurance companies and we have whole department dedicated to forcing the insurance companies to live up to their obligations. Some deny a claim as a rule and then make you resubmit knowing many people just won't. So familiarize yourself with your actual contractual benefits, and then go to work.

At my dealer we have gotten some rear glasses with defrost issues that would not be covered by claiming something else was wrong with it.
Water leak or rear sliding portion being broken have both worked to get it covered under warranty.
