Yes, it is very possible for the internal transmission cooler to fail in the radiator. Do you also see signs of coolant mixed with the transmission fluid? I would not drive it till this possible problem is resolved and needs prompt attention..I would draw some samples from your radiator and transmission and let them set to see if contaimination exists. You can also send samples to a lab for analysis. Some coolant resembles that color depending on what is in the radiator.
If you determine that cross contaimination exists, the radiator obviously needs to be replaced. The cooling and especially the transmission and cooling lines need to be completely flushed, replaced with new fluids and a new filter for the transmission. Unfortunately, when a sufficient amount of coolant is in contact with clutches and bands, the friction material gets ruined and falls apart.

What may help explain some of this,

Cooling system pressure usually goes up to around 15 psi.
Trans fluid pressure can be over 100 psi , so trans fluid goes into the cooling system through the trans cooler which is usually located in the side or bottom of the radiator.
Radiator replacement and quick flush of the cooling system is the better way to get rid of this problem.
If any ethylene glycol (anti-freeze) gets into the trans fluid the trans will as stated crap out That could wind up wit two problems to repair.
