Default Here I am

Well, new member registered here.
Poked around some & put in one reply so far, but I got to tell you, site is mighty slow & I dont know if I'll have time to do much because of that, but I'll try.
Any reason for the slowness, site safety reasons maybe ??? or I'm on probation & its just slow for me right now.

Welcome to the site..

Slow, you mean page load times? I know for me, both here at FF and other sites, the more ads/links loaded, and even worse the moving advertisments, makes the page loads really slow.. Even my home PC which is pretty fast, has ground to a hault (or seems) with all the new IT commercials we need to see

Ok, so its not just mine thats slow, but yours to.
Over on Ford Truck Ent, FTE, theres one add that pops up, a hand held computer chip programer, when it pos up the page wont even come up, got to go back to the main forum page & start all over.

Had something happen this morning never happened before, in my e mails had another message from a guy had sent me one awhile back asking about an engine, same name & address, but the message was from somebody selling ipods & had nothing to do with engines.
Getting tuff these days around the world how things are. You started learning any Chinese yet.

Cool

A while back my work email was being flooded with 'at least' 50 spam emails a day, sometimes more.. I thought they were being generated from some of my contacts here, but quit for the most part after a few months.. Our IT has us pretty locked dowm, and still it was totally annoying even with them added to the blocked mail list, only to come in under a different address with the exact same content usually sneaking the content in under a false title or as an RE:

I think all the advertising and slow page load times will eventually hurt the sites if it gets too overwhelming waiting for a view other than a blank white page or half loaded.. They need sponsors and advertisers for income, but if it gets the user hosed off waiting for a complete page they move on, or at least I do.. eBay being another, since when there page surfing and constant page loads are part of shopping and eventually finding an item..

Heck, I don't really even watch much TV anymore, mainly as back ground 'noise'.. I used to like to watch older movies on weekends, or maybe a new release but I end up getting so agitated with all the commercials (infomercials/paid advertisments on the weeknds) usually the same ones 'over and over' and about 10-15 minutes of running movie to 5 minutes of commecials,, or seems so.. Or even the station logo in the screen corner and the small thumbnail movie/channel advertisments 'during' a good movie..

Don't even get me started on the 'Made in China'!! I understand all about the 'global economy', but the ratio is soooo slanted that we're cutting our own throats! I understand why we've sold to the east, but it's wrong when their our main manufacturing hub or source.. I made it a personal marketing test starting last xmas to check the origin of manufacture on every item I 'happen' to pick up out shopping weather I'd consider buying it or not.. I'd bet the ratio was about 90%+ in favor of the chinese and not just matched to American made products, but all the other folks on the globe.. Duing my xmas test, every item I picked up was made in China 'except' a nice candle set that caught my eye.. Was made in South America.. Guess at least it had 'America' in the name
