Issues With My Fords, Am I Doing Something Wrong?
I’ve been a Ford fan since I was a kid. I’ve always owned Ford and I want to keep it that way. That being said, 4 of the last 6 that I’ve had have been horrible. Had a 2005 focus with a 2.0 that blew at 120,000 miles right after an oil change. Had a 2011 focus and blew the clutch and transmission at the same time right after I serviced the transmission at 120,000 miles. 2014 Ford escape with a 1.6 that went down to 0 pressure on cylinder 4 less than 5,000 miles after doing spark plugs and was quoted a new motor at $12,000 so I sold it to a junk car company. Now I have a 2013 Ford explorer with 148,000 and it’s giving me some signs that it’s about have as well, such as this morning I put it in drive and it touched the gas and the vehicle wouldn’t move, and then slammed into drive. What the hell is going here? I do oil changes and regular maintenance every 3,000 miles, spark plugs every 30-50,000 miles, transmission service whenever recommended but I cannot keep these things running, and I go to highly rated mechanics for the work. They never have a small issue like bearings or tie rods, it’s always something that’s thousands of dollars to fix. What am I doing wrong? Is it the vehicles I’m getting? My F150s have always done great, had 2 so far I’ve sold at almost 300,000 miles and never had an issue except ball bearing in one, same with my last Ranger. But the suvs and cars I’ve gotten have been a nightmare.
