new here, with issues with a Transit 250
As the title says, I am having an issue with a 2018 Transit 250 cargo van.
The charging system light came on, mechanic said "dead cell in the battery AND the alternator is down to 5.5 volts (!).
He's replaced both, but his OBDC reader can NOT clear the codes for the errors, and the charging system light is STILL on.
I read in a few places about the 'secret code' to reset the BMS (flash highbeam switch and tap the brake pedal and so on)
but I can not seem to make that work.
Talked to a different mechanic who suggests that the use of a 're-manned' alternator "COULD" be an issue, as well as corrosion on connectors, etc etc etc...
ANY help would be VERY much appreciated, as this is going to affect my job (I drive for a local courier company).
TIA!!

I don't know where they get these so called "secret codes", but a good saavy tech knows what the system should put out and when.
There are so many folks out there that don't know how the system really works and replace everything, "to be sure", and that doesn't always work !!!
Some systems will not allow codes to be erased except by the vehicle computer that has to "SEE" that everything is working correctly and then and ONLY then will erase the code.
Unfortunately a lot of folks are not aware of this requirement and wind up replacing a lot of good parts.

hmm....
the 'secret code' thing I was referring to is sort of similar to resetting the oil change sensor (for example)
I had found several posts in various places that say stuff like;
procedure must be done in TEN SECONDS,
and also, I have SOME doubts about how savvy my tech is....

procedure must be done in TEN SECONDS,
- turn the key to RUN (don't start engine)
- pull and release the highbeam switch 5 times
- tap the brake pedal 5 times
- if successful, the charging light will flash 3 times within 15 seconds
and also, I have SOME doubts about how savvy my tech is....
