Default New member with '03 expedition 4.6l

HI all,
I have a '03 expedition and I am having some issues trying to solve a problem with the idle being sow low that it dies. I wasn't sure where to post my topic, so here I go.
Was having issues with a P0405 code (replaced DPFE sensor twice) the electrical connection is good, so no low circuit found. I cleaned the IAC and Throttle Body, but now the vehicle barely idles and smells of raw fuel when it stays running. It currently will idle, but barely. I used throttle body cleaner to clean the IAC and Throttle body, but I did not remove the throttle body. The vehicle ran fine before I cleaned anything, it just kept throwing the P0405 code.
Please help, this is my family of 8 hauler.

Welcome to the site..

Kept or keeps?,, meaning still stores the 405 DTC, or was cleared and 405 gone and just a running condition change?

If the code is gone, and an unstable idle, might want to check and make sure the EGR isn't bleeding into the intake,, stuck open, carbon build up etc. Or possibly vacuum applied to the valve at idle.

If it ran fine other than the 405, might recheck what was done since most often 405 doesn't cause drivability issues, but can...

Thank you for your response, Hayapower.

Since I do not have a scanner, I have to go to AutoZone and have them use their Mickey Mouse scanner. I have a friend who is a mechanic and specializes in Fords, he suggested going with a motorcaft DPFE sensor. He also checked the EGR valve and even opened and closed the valve using his equipment just to verify it was working. Everything seemed functional, but that was before I cleaned the IAC and Throttle body. I might give him a call to help diagnose the current issue. As far as I know the 405 code keeps coming back, but I can't keep it running long enough to find out. I only get a chance to work on the expedition when I am home, which lately is too late in the evening to see anything. I will check the EGR and verify I still works properly.

Thanks again!

Okay, so I figured out what the problem was. My IAC was bad. I replaced it and it runs fine. I put new hoses on the DPFE sensor and realized I had them routed wrong from the stem to the sensor. This was causing the P0405 code. Now the expedition runs excellent, again. However I am now having problems with my Ford Explorer 4.6l. However, I think I no know the problem that I am having, but if I need to submit a new thread, I certainly know that there are great answers here.

Thanks!
