not new
Hi my name is mike I'm not new just have not been here for a while, annd I own a 98 Ranger 4x4 ext cab with flare side bed,3.0 And I have a problem that is making me drive my 79 elcamino ss. The belt is sqeeeeling real bad after it warms up, I've changed everthing but the tentioner could it be.
Hi Mike...Welcome back..
One of the 'common' problems for squeak/chirping issues at the 'front' of the engine is the Cam Synchronizer assembly.. The CMP (cam position sensor) sits on top of the synchronizer.. Place a listening device at the base of the assy for verification.. What happens is the shaft/housing runs dry and it will make a pretty horrible noise, or can from lack of lube.. Usually more so as the engine warms..
Could be a tensioner/idler issue, but have a look at synchronizer as well.. They have a history of problems..
Here's a few pics of the assy.
