Default Oil Filter

I have a F250 6.4L with 135,000 miles. The oil coolant went out at 98,000 miles and I had it replaced. Most recently I went to have the oil changed at a Vaolvoline Oil change. When they went to change the oil filter, the oil filter litterally fell apart. It appears that the oil filter had never been changed. My question is how can this happen, what would it affect?

I have worked on vehicles like that before. I would change the oil at short intervals the next two times and see if it cleans up.
The 85 I have had not had the oil changed in 10 years when I got it. Luckily, after a couple, one thousand mile changes, it is clean.

Thanks! I just don't understand that the oil filter had been missed so MANY times….

Was a filter never included in the service invoice/s? How do you mean' appears' to never have been changed? Filter number on the base? Many suppliers are just reboxed Racor/motorcraft, some by aftermarket design don't meet spec. and could be the reason for the failure.
