Exclamation Problem with tranny please help!!!

Hi im new to this forum but i figured maybe someone would have answer... i bought 95 ford explorer to drive back and forth to work its decent its got a 4.0 liter , 4dr.....but now The tranny is acting up it shifts through all the gears and it does not slip but it will sometime shifts hard from 1st to 2nd.... and it downshifts strange as coming to a stop its really hard but does really feel like a downshift it feels like a slight slam its only as coming to a stop it doesnt matter if im going slow or fast and it doesnt do it everytime..... i tryed this in neutral and it didnt do it so i suspect its the drivetrain and i had the suspension looked at everything checked out except shocks but they wouldnt be doing this... back yard mechanic guy i have do the brakes and stuff doesnt know what it is he,and suggested getting tranny rebuilt but i dont have the money for that .... i was hoping someone knew of a vaccum issue or computer issue or something... i have had the tranny mounts checked and they are fine, and just recently had filter and fluid changed didnt help, thought about taking it back to have it flushed but that is a $110 that could do me no good... let me know thankyou
