TimmerDog here. I'm just a guy who loves to tinker with stuff and get it back to working. I've got the '05 SportTrac Adrenalin and an '01 Super Duty diesel 4x4. The SportTrac is the wifes ride but if I'm with her... I'm driving! Great truck, nice ride and pulled our Pop-up camper for years without a complaint! As I approach flippin' off the timeclock retirement, we decided to upgrade the pop-up and get a travel trailer. The Jayco 24' new trailer was within the SportTracs limitations but not the wifes! Lucky for us, my 87 year old Father in Connecticut was looking to part with his '01 SD. Thanks Dad!
He put 150k miles with his wife and Lance camper on that truck. Every State except Hawaii, Alaska twice and every province in Canada. The fuel gauge stopped working back in '03 and always read full. I could continue do the mileage math but if the wife's with me, the fuel gauge is all she sees! I'd have to kill myself to find happiness while on vacation!!
So I "tinkered" that sending unit problem out for less than $10! The fix it story is posted on the '99-'03 Powerstroke Forum under my name. I just love tinkering out problems rather than paying the "todays fix-it rate" price.
