You did just fine. Welcome to the site.
Now all you need to do is wait for the replies to come in.
As you probably know it is difficult to diagnose a noise over the net unless you can supply a recording of the sounds and even then we can only speculate. One of the possibilities could be a timing chain tensioner on that side's chain.

The 5.4 is known for some 'normal' noises at idle. Usually after they warm that dissipates off idle.

Injectors a more or a 'ticking sound' noticed at idle, cam follower/lash adjusters 'ticking/tapping' sometimes at idle and may follow RPM changes, cam phasers more of a slight knock or hard rattle that quite 1200-1500 RPM and above,

Even broken exhaust manifold studs can make a tick, tap sound. Even possibly a loose spark plug or timing chain tension issues. Weather or not it is excessive or it's location needs to be determined. A mechanic stethoscope can sometimes help determine location.

You might try is, with the engine warmed, 'hold' the brake pedal tight and raise the engine RPM to 1500,, quickly release the throttle,, does the engine stumble and/or rattle change at all?

You Tube has a pretty extensive library for 5.4 noises, you may find one that closely follows yours, post the link here. Otherwise like Hanky noted, it would be just guess work.

There are several potential root causes but generally you'll find there is either a failed door motor or control head causing this issue. Try to isolate the climate change by exercising the control head. If you can isolate the power or signal to the door that is operational you could use the output from the control head to confirm the door that is not moving to determine if the root cause is the control head or the door motor. For a modest fee, you could always tap your local dealer for analysis but they get little for service labor time and could charge between $100/$200 just for the labor. Don't be over whelmed by performing the analysis yourself it really is not that hard to isolate.

Hi mechanics i need help. I own a 2007 2.2 TDCI transit which has done about 90k mostly motorway miles. The van is never thrashed and serviced regularly. I had a new fuel pump installed by a local garage about 3 weeks ago, once the job was completed it was taken to a ford garage to have the fault codes erased so engine management light could be turned off. I am not sure if this is a coincidence but the van has started to sound very rattly hot and cold, it sounds like a well used old TDI diesel now if you know what I mean. There doesn't appear to be any loss of power and is not smoking. Could someone please point me in the right direction. Cheers. Dazzler.

Hi, i'm new to this forum, but not new to Fords! I owned an '86 Escort GT, and an '82 Escort, both of which i converted to 2.3 HSC tempo engines. I also owned a '66 Ford Fairlane. My wife and i wanted a 4wd SUV, so we bought a V6 2012 Ford Escape. I can't work on my own vehicles anymore due to a stroke August 2011, which took away the use of my left hand (and most of my left side). Now i have an '87 Dodge Charger2.2 turbo that runs 12.5@115 in the 1/4. I like older mopars, but newer ones are junk.

Hi,
I'm Iroll. Retired, living in Southern California. I enjoy the outdoor activities, sports, and driving my 2004 ford f150 super crew. I purchased the truck about two months ago, it's super clean, runs well and has a few issues that need to be addressed. This site has helped me resolve some of those issues... thanks to the many contributors to many to mention names. Thanks to those that put this site together and maintain it.
