Just picked up a 2011 Explorer XLT yesterday. First Ford I've had since my very first car, a '64 and a half Mustang convertible that I bought in '72 for $650 bucks (!!!). Replaced an '01 Jeep Grand Cherokee with this Explorer. I'm old enough that I don't see near as well as I used to, so all the newfangled electronics will take a bunch of sittin'-in-the-driveway-learning-curve time to figure out, but I am fairly tech savvy and still have my memory, so once learned and setup to my liking, it should be a seamless transition from then on.

Joined the forums mostly to find tips, tricks, advice and instruction. Just glanced around so far, so I don't know exactly the best place to find that kinda stuff yet, but see y'all around I reckon as I start getting familiarized with your setup.

I have the ideal engine in mind I want in my next car, it's either ecosport or edge. At least 2.5 years away. Through automation, I have the turbo size specs and air fuel ratio I want to run my next cars engine. I'm hoping it's at least 90% accurate. I'm looking at least 38% thermal efficiency. 40-45mpg. Using current available blocks. Any way to have it tested?

Engine dyno would be my guess as far as readings you want to monitor or prove out,, for MPG you might be able to simulate car weight as dyno load or drag to see if your in the ball park. But for accuracy and real world application, like the manufactures road testing would be more accurate for correct MPG stats given load, axle ratio, wind, ambient etc.

I have an 87 F150, 4.9L, EFI (Calif. model), 3-spd O/D with a short bed and ext cab. I have owned the truck since new and it now has 250K miles. It's been a reliable truck and I have no problem driving it any where. Body rot on cab panels and some wrinkles in the bed are targets for refrubishment. I want to restore the truck as a daily driver.

This forum is an excellent resource and I am glad to be included as a new member.
