What is this part truck caught fire
Something to look into.
As I recall, there are exhaust tubes in the area as part of the emission system. If the hot exhaust was leaking and blowing onto the plastic housing , it could ignite the plastic.
The exhaust emission system had several components that directed air and exhaust to different areas depending on engine temp. If any were not in good working condition, all sorts of problems could develop. It is a good bet one of the components or piping might have rusted through or could be malfunctioning. Might be a good idea to have someone familiar with the system look it over.
A better view of what is back there can be had if the "Doghouse" cover is removed.
