Default Engine idenity

My truck: 1965 ford f100. Recently purchased from private seller. Was told it has 302. Unable to verify. Unable to find cast mark. Read online to count valve cover bolts as a 302 has 6. My covers only have 5 bolts. What's going on? Was i mislead by seller about engine?

I said the engine is a FE 331 (352) 390 427 428 etc:
the 302 is a Windsor block 260 289 302 351...

they are not interchangeable... the FE has a Round bell housing... with a C4, C6 automatic or a manual transmission. 3 or 4 speed
So you have a Big Block Ford
Is it a 4bbl or 2bbl?
BTW very hard to tell which CI you have, Ford did not stamp them in fact most of the FE blocks have a 352 stamping
Now that tag is unknown to me.
first it's a industrial engine tag.. the F100 should have a 17 digit number.
Industrial engines I think are for the heavy duty truck line which started around 1958.. and I have no knowledge regarding them
when you buy a used car or truck with an FE block, you can not tell from looking at the block which CID you have.
not with standing someone boring and stroking their engine.

thats the best I can do for you, Took me 20 min on the net to find this...
Best
