Missed drive train warranty by 10 days.
My brother owns a 2014 E350 Econoline Super Duty van with 36.000 original miles in all but immaculate condition. He has owned it since day one. It now sits at a local Ford dealership in need of a new engine as he was told this one is shot. What makes it worse as it was just outside the 5 yr, 60,000 mile drive train warranty by 10 days. The local dealership has talked to Ford and they basically said, tough break, nothing we can or will do for you but to offer to install a new engine and related parts and a approximate cost of $10,000, paid by him. The local dealership gave him a Ford contact number to call which links him up to to someone overseas with limited English which sadly has got him nowhere and frustrated him.
On top of this, he had just recently sat down with this dealership to crunch the numbers on a new 2019 Ford F150 pickup. Obviously he has soured on Ford at the moment.
He is 56 and every vehicle, Harley, trailer, snowmobile he has ever owned is taken care of to a T, very meticulous on what he owns and the upkeep that goes with it.
The frustration obviously is the 10 days past the warranty and a $10,000 bill. Who has that? Especially with a van with 36,000 original miles.
Any suggestions in this matter other than take $10,000 out of the bank would be greatly appreciated. Even a Ford contact number would be a start.
Thanks You!
