Default roadside repair, what have you done

What do you carry in your vehicle in case of emergencies
I think I have gone full circle here....from nothing to trunk full and now to a small backpack.
my summer kit includes
-small socket set
-jumper cables
-first aid kit
-survival kit
-flashlight
-umbrella
-2 water bottles
-CAA membership

It would have to be dire for me to fix anything on the side of the road nowadays.
in the last 10 years i have completed three 3000 km cross country trips;
-1 failed alternator...failed as I arrived at my destination
-1 failed compressor clutch...was able to unplug the compressor and continue
-1 trailer tire plug repair that got me to my destination so the proper plug-patch could be installed

I figure a SMARTCAR and a set of ramps would take care of everything...

Default to far to tow

I had an 19yo car as a college student. the college was in a remote city 8 hours into northern Ontario. Driving up there the bolt that held the alternator to tension the water pump belt came loose. the headgasket blew as I did not see the warning light. CAA towed me to the closest town. I gave the car away and rented a car home. To far to tow home. No way was I gonna do a headgasket in the parking lot.

...next car was a ford Taurus owned by Robert Palmer....well not thee Robert palmer but a Robert palmer.
