Only firing on three (UK)
Hi,
Can anyone please help me. I have a Transit van (UK) 2002 2.3Lt petrol/LPG DOHC with full service history having covered 106K miles. I doing doing about 60MPH when the engine gave a small 'POP'/miss fire and began missing on one cylinder. There was a greatdeal of 'air blow back' when I removed the oil filler cap.
I have taken off the head and the nimber one cylinder is not working, all valves apear to be inorder. I have removed the piston, all rings are perfectly intact - I would have preferred them to be broken. Having taken out all 4 pistons there seems to be no difference from number 1 to the rest.
I am replacing number 1 cylinder but I'm not confident that this is actually the problem.
Would love to hear from anyone who may have some ideas or experience of this. Oh, our local Ford dealership has no experience of this as they have never taken one of these engine apart before.
Many thanks to all
