Default Possible Engine Swap 2003 Lincoln Aviator engine to iether 2008 or 2009 P-71 CV

Thank you for taking the time to post back to me in advance.

Im retired on a fixed income. Still work 2 days a week. Autos are expensive. Keeping my 2 CVs alive till they
handcuff me to a wheel chair. Then shove me into a nursing home.

Recently acquired a spare tran for $151.00 from a 2008 Town Car 135,00 mi. Could get the engine also from this Car. $300.

Modular ? Can get an Itek V8 for $300. also. LoMi. Whoo . Passenger side intake. Versus Driver Battery.

Im thinking. If this is part of the Modular family Intek. The intake runners etc on the CV 4.6 will bolt onto

the Intek ? This 32V V8 drops right into a P-71. Bolts right up to existing Transmission ?

302hp to maybe 350Hp. Versus 248-265Hp. Same engine cost.

Been collecting spare parts for my CV's for a few years. Like Boch France made engine Fans from early Town Cars.

Not the made in China Junk Fan that came with 2008-2011 Cvs . Shoosh even 2008 Town Car.

Pays off collecting. My cost+time. 8 Motor craft Coils. $2. Replaced old malfunctioning on 2008CV last week.

No expert. But I have plenty of free time. Quick learner.

Thanks in advance for your knowlege thoughts.

Just because the parts will physically fit is ABSOLUTELY no guarantee they will work correctly.
As you know the manufacturers make changes from year to year and add to that mid year changes and what looks like it should work is just a mirage in the desert.
Sometimes they change the timing on the crank pulley reluctor and if the incorrect pulley is installed the darn thing never runs right and can drive one up the wall trying to figure out what and why. Unless you have access to the info, and a scope to chase down electronic problems, that darn can of worms is just waiting for someone to open it.

Well. I won't be changing pulleys. But the 200 amp alternator with clutch goes in. LOL The CV's are fly by wire. The aviator 4.6 is not. Next week. I will blow a day at the junk yard. And see
if I can swap the flybywire/ intake throttle body assembly unto the Aviator engine. Laptop Jtag and battery. To make sure this nice condition SUV was junked because of the transmission .
Oil drain plug check and mileage. If it fits. I'm on my way. To a swap. Plus purchasing tuning software.Possible Exhaust fitment issues. Reseach the variable timing of DOHC 4.6.

I use an osciliscope to set modulation levels on my CB. Also to quickly test solid state components.

Best Thanks

You have an advantage right off the bat, now if I might offer a suggestion.
Read up on the operation of OBDll systems and get some idea of what inputs are required , what the operating parameters are, and where the components are located.
I believe with that info you will have a better idea of what you can and cannot do. The days of taking one engine out and sticking just another one in that is not identical is a challenge that is guaranteed to keep you busy, I wouldn't want to speculate for just , how long.

A little side note,
If the PCM's are switched for whatever reason you will never even get the engine started. Then when you reinstall the original PCM, the systems are confused and that will no longer work and your only recourse is a certified locksmith or dealership or someone with a security clearance to get access to the as built info and now this gets expensive and challenging. I wish you all the luck with this project, but it might save you some time and expense plus trouble to confirm you can swim in the pond you are about to jump into.
It never hurts to check with a Ford Service Dept to help confirm if this can be done and hopefully save you some grief.
