Default trans. id

'68 f250 360 cu in. engine. Where would I look to identify the type of trans. I know it is an automatic, but what type?

Good possibility of being a C4.

The 360/390 V8's used the C6 transmission. Smaller engines used the C4. If the tag is still present on the transmission, the top code on the tag is transmission ID and should be PGB-AC for a C6. You can also ID it by the pan. The C6 pan has 17 bolts with an irregular shaped pan where the C4 has 11 bolts and a square like shape.
