Ford Racing 460-Demon Carb prob...
Gurus, I have a crate SVO 460 Ford racing engine with a rebuilt C6 tranny. A buddy talked me into buying a mighty demon 825 cfm carb to put on it. I can start, idle in neutral and park all day long with excellent throttle response but as soon as I put the car into any gear (once up to running temp) the engine starts to stumble and act like it is getting no gas. I know I am getting a steady 7 psi from the the holley blue pump. I replaced the stock 76 jets with 82's on the primary and it seems to have helped a bit. If I goose the engine while in gear I can keep it running and if I keep the RPM's up the engine performs great. However, after a burn out or even a mild throttle while the RPM's are backing down, stumble, stumble, die. Starts right back up and idles great. Other particulars, TCI 3000 stall torque converter, running race grade fuel, replaced plugs, MSD 6 AL, timing at 38 degrees at 4000 RPM. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
