I have a 89 f150 4x4,4.9,5 spd. The trans has seemed to lock up in 2 gear.It will start when the clutch is in,as soon as I let it out it dies.The shifter is stuck in 2 and will not move.I think its a mazda trans.Is it worth rebuilding or should I replace it?

 

notsure if the same tranny but mine did the same about 2 years ago had to pull top plat off tranny to get it un stuck the problem seemed to be that it was stuck between two gears not sure whitch ones it seemed to be caused by too much up and down slop in the shifter i put shimms under the ball on the shifter where it pivots in the tranny and have not had a problem since
