Exclamation 71 F100 with E40D plus Electronic lock up

I have this old pick up that's been in the family almost 16 years I am leaving for the army and plan on getting it restored the transmission has a cracked bell housing so I figured I would just go ahead and get a new one it has a 390 sport motor I heard something about the E40D used for a big block and able to use an electronic lock up convertor can this be done I can get it modified to fit if needed I just wan to know if the transmission with the electronic lock up will bolt to the 390 or if there is another transmission I can set up like this for that engine but no manuals I'm not a fan for this truck at least

I wouldn't even think of putting that tranny in that truck the problem is that it won't bolt up and that truck wasn't made for it the only motors that will bolt to the tranny is as follows 352 360 390 428 because the bell housing is almost round and the starter has three bolts not two now what you might do is get a manual 5 speed with od or just a four speed and change the gears in the pumpkin with 350's or higher. I do own a 71 F100 with a 302 engine and a T18 four speed tranny and I get some decent mpg but I don't have the power that I should have because the motor isn't that strong what I'm going to do is swap the motor to a big block like the 390 or just do the whole power train with 460 and tranny
