C4 fit both 2.3 and 5.0 ?

Cool C4 fit both 2.3 and 5.0 ?

Just wondering if the C4 that is in my 1988 Mustang LX 4 banger will bolt up to a 5.0 that im building or am i going to have to buy a new Trans. Sorry its a stupid question but some say it will and some say it wont just need to clarify this so let me know your opinion or facts. Thnx

First, are you SURE that you have a C4 in the 88 Mustang? The last year C4s were made was in 1982.

Second, the answer is both yes and no. However, you don't want to put a 4 banger C4 behind a V8. It will not last.

You either need to put beefier drums in your transmission, or get a C4 from behind a V8. If you use yours, you will also need to replace the front servo. Using a 4-cyl one behind a V8 will destroy your direct band and drum in short order. Finally, you MAY need to change the valve body. If you don't like the shift quality behind a V8, then you wound need to upgrade your 4-cyl valve body or replace it.
