Default 96 windstar 3.8L check engine light

Hi Folks my check engine light has come on and I am not ready to do maintenance just yet. How do I turn it off. Or what is the 90k miles maintenace shedule call for on the this vehicle? Thanks.

The CEL is for a stored diagnostic troublecode.. You can take it to Autozone or some of the other parts vendors and they'll read the code for you at no charge.. If you can post the code it would be a help.. You can clear the lamp/code by disconnecting the battery.. But, it would be a good idea to have the code read/scanned before clearing the memory...

Thanks, I'll have Autozone read the code, didn't know I could just turn it off by disconnecting the battery.

By the way, Autozone wouldn't check mine in California. Said it was a state law. You can borrow the reader though.

My CEL did not go away with a battery disconnect. If it comes back I might remove the lamp.

And, if you read my previous post about my '95 windstar you will find it cost me $480 toreplace an O2 sensor at the stealership to clear the light.

Good luck.
Buy a 4Runner next time, that's what I did. Twice.

thanks thus far for the help. here are the error codes P0122 (sensor - already replaced) & P0301 (misfire).I'd like to replace the spark plugs and cables. can anybody tell me the best way to reach the rear sparks plugs? And, is it recommended that I also replace the coil pack. Thanks to all.
