My 97 Aerostar just started having an air conditioner problem.It will not start working and then you can drive it for a while and then you can feel the compressor kick in and the air blows cold and works great all day, maybe for several days.Then you go somewhere one day and the air has quit working and it may not work for days, then one day it will start up and work great for hours or days.It's like there is a short or loose connection.The odd thing is it starts working usually when your in a line, like a bank drive thru, fast food drive thru, or pushing it down freeway.It's like the car gets hot and it starts working, really frustrating. And when it working it's frosty cold.Any ideas??

 

If you have a 12v test light, use this schematic and trace for power distribution on out to the A/C compressor.. Could be the relay or cycling switch, but should be checked for current through out the system first before looking deeper.. If you need component location views let me know..
