Default Aerostar reading code 297 at 30mph

94 Aerostar engine shutting down at 35mph. When I scan it the computer is showing code 297 for exceeding 150mph. Cruise control not engaged when it shuts down and rpms are standard for the speed. Any thoughts?

I don't know about the validity of that code, but it would seem there is a problem in either what a speed sensor might be reporting or how the signal is being interpreted.

Thanks for the response. In looking at it I am finding that water is running off the windshield down around the wiper motor and onto the PCM and pins. I'm going to build a box and silicone it to keep the water out and see how it goes. I also thought about the speed sensor but the transmission is not affected and the speedometer isn't jumping.
