Power Steering Pump, how hard? '95 Windstar
What's involved in replacing the power steering pump on a '95 V6 3.8L?
It doesn't look too hard and mine has been making growlingnoises for long enough.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

The power steering pump replacement requires a puller/installerto remove the pressed on belt pulley.. There's a few variations in type, like a 'split collar' or a open end type puller.. The groove up on the nose of the pulley has to be snagged with a good portion (to all) of the puller tool so not to damage the pulley, then needs to be pressed/installed back on the new pump.. The new aftermarket pumps may come with a bolt style installer (install only) but will do the job.. The worst part of the job is to remove the belt pulley in tight quarters..Here's a few pics of the different designs.. You may be able to rent a puller set from your local rental store, or their available from most parts vendors.. I can send you the replacement steps if needed..
