Okay so a while back my 2002 for windstar took impact to the passenger rear tire and slightly the panel above it. The tire bent in to where it was rubbing the coil spring. But why won’t it run after that now? Is my whole rear axle screwed because the wheel bent in? Should I just get a whole new axle assembly or what, I really need some advice on this That’s the impact
It has an inertia switch that on impact disables the fuel pump. Check that first. Hard to say on the axle, have any images of the underside damage?
That’s the first think I checked after ordering a complete tear down rebuild manual from Haynes and doing some research, I checked it it was tripped, I just used a flat head to flip the button back up, turns over cranks wants to start has to be a fuel issue maybe try started fluid? I’ll get better pics today.
Be careful using starting fluid because most folks use too much and can damage the pistons and other internal engine parts.
Maybe I misunderstood your description of resetting the inertia sw, but I believe the button gets PUSHED DOWN to reset it.
Let us know how you make out with this, thanks.
Down? I must’ve misunderstood where I heard it, so if it wasn’t tripped then why would impact right there cause it not to start anymore? No fluid leaking no gas smell, I’ll be taking more extensive pics soon headed to the ol blue girl now
Let's see if this helps some, If the switch is in the reset position and you bang it with your hand, you should hear the ball roll and the switch is now tripped. You would push the button down to reset it. You will feel it stay down when you do it.
There is also a fuel pump driver module back there , and that determines if and when the fuel pump runs.
If you can Google , fuel pump driver module2002 ford and see what they have to say.
U can see how far the wheel pushed in you can see the rub mark with paint showing
The inertia switch was my starting issue solved that today but this is my real issue

inertia switch was the starting problem, any advice on the additional pics I posted? Think I need to replace axle?
From what I believe I saw , there are 2 bent parts. One is the bar and channel that goes over the bar that goes from wheel to wheel. The other is the strut that connects the right side of the axle to the body. They both appear to have a bend in them, maybe it's me , but have a good shop check that out.
