Default Windstar brake light

Hi all. I have a '98 Windstar GL. My brake light is coming on after I come to a stop and then start accelerating. It is happening every time. It comes on once my foot comes off the brake pedal and the light stays on for about 5 seconds and goes off. Thenit stays off until I stop again. I just checked the fluid level and it's full. My brakes feel fine and not any different than before the light issue started. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. Any ideas?

I have a '95. That brake light came on and stayed on for a very long time. Ford could only make it go off for a few days.
I did the rear brakes one time and discovered a rear wheel cylinder had a very tiny leak.
I replaced the cylinders and no more brake light.

Have you tried adjusting the rear brakes (if they are still shoes in '98)?
I think they have self adjusters but may need manual adjusting anyway or you could need new rear shoes.

My ABS light came on too and I fixed that by taking the dash apart and ruining the little light bulb so no more light.

It is needed to be checked as it is very important part of the car and it helps you to prevent from accident so it is needed to be repaired soon to avoid any mishappening..
