fuel pump replacement 2000 f150
I have a newbie question I have a buddy at work who is getting ripped off on a fuel pump replacement they are trying to charge him 800 parts and install. I don't have an f-150 but I told him I will help him replace it I have a 05 evo 8 and no a lot about aftermarket and simple installs. I know the pump is an in tank pump and is fairly easy to install. but what is the best way to do it would you remove the bed or drop the tank he has a little under 1/4 tank also what is the best way to drain the fuel lines? I am a really newb to domestics I drive imports always any help would really be appreciated. I did a search on fuel pumps but didn't relly find the info I was looking for thanks in advance

its best to pull the relay , fuse run truck outta gas in the lines , drop the tank from the bottom, its easier to use a small floor jack. replace the pump an install in reverse its pretty straight foward , you will need a special tool to take the lines off , any parts store has it , for like $10.00 dollars, an will take you like 2 hours,,, far cheaper than the $800.00 +,

I agree with Ramrod48. This is an easy fix with just 1/4 tank of fuel. Drop the tank. Simple fuel disconnects will work for the main fuel lines. Just lower the tank slowly and keep an eye out for electrical and plastic tube connectors that tend to break artificially easy... (sales) Lower the tank slowly and keep it balanced, nothing sucks like spilling gas all over your driveway.
