I have a 1990 f150 4x4. The front tank fuel level sending unit is bad and now my rear tank the fuel pump is starting to act up. Went to the local pick and pay junk yard near here and found a 1990 f150 with dual tanks that has less than 30,000 miles and has a wrecked front end. Someone has already bought the bed and tail gate so both tanks are exposed. I tried to remove both the front and rear tank fuel pump and sending units but could not get the gas lines that connect to these units apart. Is there a special tool required and where might I find one at. Also what year trucks are these units compatable? Since I did not get these the other day when I go back they might be gone.

 

You'll need the 'quick release' tools like these.. Most aftemarket parts houses have them or something similar.. Also outfits like Harbor Freight ect will carry them..
