Could it be just frozen after all these years, the splined part of the cv joint should be able to be pushed out of the hub.
Some videos are made with some of the difficult stuff done in advance so it looks easy.
What you can try is to place the retaining nut flush with the stub of the axle splined part and place a hammer or block of steel or brass against the nut and hit it a few times to free it up. You leave the nut on the shaft so you don't mushroom the end and you should ALWAYS install a new nut when assembling the parts.
They do make a puller to separate those parts too!
