i pull up on the handle and it goes all the way up. i am thinking bad cable or bad rear brakes. as soon as it stops raining i will go out and check. they look fairly easy to fix, and the parts are cheap except the parking brake cable made up of unobtainium.

 

never mind i got it fixed. it was the actuator on the drivers' side, it was rusted and would not move. took it off and cleaned it and oiled it good and put it back together and then adjusted it and 9 clicks it stops the car. checked the other side it was fine. now i need to get a cotter pin instead of the nail and a cap to cover the bearing. i think i will change the bearings and seals while i am at it. i probably should change the shoes and hardware as well they are cheap. i also took the carpet out to clean underneath it as well as cleaning the carpet. it is full of hair and some dark stuff. the only thing left inside to fix is the interior light doesn't come on when i open the door.
