Default The Advantages of Running Dual Injection Pumps on a Diesel Engine

The topic of discussion is how to add more power to your diesel engine:

First we have common-rail injection which has made it possible to nearly double the power output of most Power Stroke mills with the use of a simple programmer. Still, every injection system has its limits. Not unlike the fuel-delivery methods of yesteryear, the easiest way to add power (beyond what a programmer provides) is to add larger injectors. Because ample rail pressure must always be on tap for the injectors to use, you also have the option of installing a modified injection pump.

But in our opinion, the best option is to add another pump to the engine – dual fuelers, twin CP3’s or dual high-pressure fuel kits. Dual pump systems are usually belt-driven, capable of maintaining enough rail pressure to clear 1,000hp, and thanks to the pumps sharing the workload, they are extremely reliable.

What do you guys think?

Usually engines as "stock" are built with a safety factor to endure whatever stress is placed upon them. What happens when you exceed those limits?

if your into a build that deep trans and head gaskets upgrades are par for the course.

on stock engines the tuners alone are causing 4x the incurrance of headgasket failure. then there is the issues of what it does to egr coolers and the variable geometry turbos.
