Default headlight switch

I need to know how to remove the pull **** on a 1996 Bronco headlight switch. I can see the nut that needs to be removed, but I'm not sure if I need to remove the plastic shroud that houses this or what. I am replacing it with a new one. thank you

Look at the area where the shaft enters the ****.. You'll see a squared 'notched' or cutout area at the base of the ****.. Use a hook shaped tool and using a pullling force, pull with some light tension on the retaining clip and pull the **** off the shaft.. You can also reach under the dash and up high onto the H/L switch.. There on the headlight switch body is a release button that you 'hold in' and pull the complete ****/shaft assembly from the switch..
