How to time your engine for a 93' bronco?
Hi im 15 years old and my dad and I have puchased a 1993, 5 liter v8 bronco. The truck will not pass inspection due to the problems with the truck that are making the engine run the gas rich. This problem as you may already know is an immediate red flag for those inspecting the truck. We have fixed problems that may have been an issue, but the engine continues to run unefficiately. So we are going to try to time the engine to see if it will help our problem. We have the manuals to the truck but could not find anything in the books to proceed with this testing. Please leave comments,

Hi Luke,
Before you get involved changing engine timing, see if you can run the KOEO (key on engine off) and continuous codes. That will save you a lot of trouble if you don't have access to a scan tool and you have a multimeter you can get the codes that way.
I really don't feel that timing would affect the engine running rich at this time. If your manual has any instructions for checking the O2 sensor, that might be a good place to start also if you can pull the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator and if it has gasoline in it the regulator is defective. Try the simple things first.
