1998 Contour. Not sure of the motor size. around 80k miles. CEL is on, car stalls intermittently when warm, but never when cold. Code came back as "Idle Air Control Speed Malfunction Confirmed" Anyone think it's safe to just spend $60 for a new IAC and my troubles would be over or could it be something else? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

 

Before spending big and medium sized bucks I would spend small ones on CRC Throttle body cleaner and clean the throttle body, and IAC valve and all electrical contact the the IAC motor. There is no guaranty that this will fix it but I think it is well worth trying.

It could also be a short in the wiring. Contours are famous for that.
