Default need help. A/C

my compressor works great it cools good ,but the a/c clutch on front of compressor has a issue a ring is loose and making loud noises at times, is there a belt i can get to bypass the compressor for winter ? ,or can the clutch on the a/c compressor be replaced easily ?....i'm in collage and won't have my refund till january.....PLEASE HELP.

tho I am not familier with this car, does it ring only when the clutch is engaged?
depending on how this engine belt is routed it's may be possible. but more important keep in mind cooler wheather is on the way, your defroster will not perform very well if the compressor does not engage. this could be a very serious safety issue.

thx lars,.....i'll keep that in mind the noise is there as long as its turning the grooved pully ,i think i can take it apart and get a junk yard replacement its just a 8mm bolt holding it on just the clutch ,not the whole pully .

if i remember correctly. when you replace the clutch assembly. you have to check the distance between the friction surfaces. when tightening the retaining bolt… flat feeler gauge… there are procedures for setting the distance… possibly thin flat washers/spacers..

yes tempforce,..they need shimmed out to between .006-.030 .been reading a lot .hop i get it done soon bought my 2001 crown vic ,court officer car for $800...needed work 121,500 miles ,and needed a rear axle bearing,pulled axle and its shot very bad shape,ordered new one then ,i need to fix rear bumper cover and a/c clutch...but, for the price i'm in for $1100 now total.
