Police interceptor: Leaks on Replaced Rack & pinion
Sad, that my crown of over 10 years. Just won’t stop leaking.
My rack & Pinion was leaking at the top. Where the steering column meets the rack controller. I replaced my rack & pinion with a remanufactured r&p. using the included o rings. Drove it around & a couple days later. It leaked.
This time, it started leaking from the gear end from the return line. The dealer gave me 2 different part #s that crossed to o rings & Teflon rings. At my parts store.
But when I removed the rack. There were no Teflon rings. Just o rings. Was there a upgrade to parts?
I also purchased sae & mm o ring assortment kits from harbor freight’s store. To use as replacements for the rack. To cover any mishaps. None of those o rings match. Is there a different type of o ring category (that is not high temperature)? Also, can anyone suggest options. To stop the leak?

I purchased both metric & sae. From harbor freight. Even took the originals to the auto parts store. They couldn’t match them. I guess I will be a master at changing those o rings. Till the parts dealer can get the original o rings shipped in. But I was hoping someone else had solved the problem. And could share there knowledge. Because I don’t think the o rings are the problem. I was hoping there was a upgrade to the problem.
