Default 1988 E150 missing driveshaft

Hello all, I have a 1988 Ford e150 travel wagon.

Recently my driveshaft popped out and I was not able to find it.

From what I know I have a 5.0L with a 14 bolt transmission pan.
I measured from the back joint up to the trans yoke and have 72"
My mechanic and I are struggling to identify the proper series of lengths and linkages to get my van repaired.

Any advice is welcome.

The measurement is taken from the flat flange on the differential to the end of the output shaft of the trans.

The slip yoke for the front of the driveshaft needs to move back and forth on the output shaft whenever the rear axle goes up and down.

You might find one in a salvage yard or you can have one made according to your measurements. There are shops that make and balance driveshafts for trucks and they can make one for your van.
It appears the rear u joint let go first. If the front broke first sometimes it can polevault the vehicle , you were lucky there.
Driveshafts for heavy duty trucks usually get wrung and twisted because the driver tried to take off without releasing the parking brakes.lol.
Sometimes a spring shop can make driveshafts too, check around..
