2002 E250 transmission not going into forward gears
My 2004 E250 has 92,500 miles. Was a church utility van so hasn’t been run a lot. It runs great but sometimes doesn’t want to go into forward gears. When shifting into forward gear, it’ll act like it’s in neutral and then jump into gear when I give it a little gas, sometimes it takes a little more than others. It never has a problem going into reverse gear. It also sometimes has a hard shift from 1st to 2nd.
I’m thinking of putting some Lucas transmission fix into it first. I know some folks love it and others say it’s useless. Seems like it does help in some situations though.
If I do put Lucas in, should I remove a little trans fluid first?
any other suggestions?
Thanks!

There are regular tuneup service receipts every year from 2014 - 2019, but no mileage on any of them.
Trans fluid looks new and doesn’t have a burnt smell. Looks like it might be a little high though, at the top of the “H” range on the dip stick after I had it running for 2 minutes to get it level.
