Hello everyone, Apparently my cat got destroyed and I need to replace it. I'm trying to take it off and the bolt on the flange between the exhaust manifold and the car completely rounded off. Can someone confirm that is a stud that I can destroy/replace? I just want to be 100%. Thanks.

 

Those studs can break and then you have a bigger problem. Then they will need to be drilled out, not the kind of job you have the tools to handle. NO ROOM !

Suggest you consider a shop that can use heat to remove them before breaking them.

That is not a job you want to become involved in lying on your back.
A muffler shop has a lift and is equipped to use a torch if necessary.AND they will have the replacement studs and usually brass nuts.

 

I agree! A muffler shop with lift can do this job quickly. You could spend days trying to do this yourself !!!
