anchoring factory seats
hey hey,
i have a 2003 e350 super duty xl passenger van and i was wondering what's the general opinion on anchoring the factory seats through a sub-floor. i am 'sprucing' up the interior and putting down some maple ply and coin patterned vinyl with two bench seats. i am using the factory capture points for seats and belts, but was trying to figure out if i should cut the sub-floor so the brackets can mount directly to the van body.
best wishes.

Anytime we sway away from the way a vehicle has been built and "Certified" , we open ourselves up to all sorts of problems in the event of a mishap.
When available , the factory anchors should be used. You can supplement them, but should not by-pass or eliminate them.
Because , "stuff" happens, there are vultures out there that would love to take everything you have and might have in the future.
I don't know any other way to put it . They are out there and just waiting for an opportunity to take advantage of our lack of knowledge pertaining to the laws.
