Default Brake problems - ABS

I have a 1994 Econoline E350 van.
The ABS warninglight (yellow) have been comming and going for some time.
Last week also the red brake warning light lights up when braking and the brakepedal feels soft. Red light when braking, disappears when driving without braking. Also a vibration in the front wheels and steering wheel while braking (similar to unbalansed discs). Its not leaking any brake fluid.

Any hints and help would be appreciated.

It's time to have a thorough inspection of the brake system especially the fronts.
Fords do not have any warning system for when the pads are worn out and the only way to know is to either look at them (wheels removed) or feel the metal to metal grinding or loss of brakes. Sounds like the time is NOW !

Pads and discs are as brand new, changed not long ago.

Because we do not know if the calipers and related parts were checked thoroughly new pads and discs can be destroyed in short order. The symptoms for disaster are jumping out to let you know something is wrong and it would be wise not to ignore them and check before you continue driving the vehicle.
