Change Coolant color
Hi community. I have 1999 Econoline E-150 with 5.4 Triton engine. Right now car uses Green coolant.

According to the label right now coolant should be : E2FZ-19549-AA (or equivalent to Ford coolant Spec# ESE-M97B44-A).
I do full coolant flash.
Can I change coolant to Yellow after full coolant flash and cleaning the system ?

The older Green coolant did have some problems contributing to a condition called solder bloom where it managed to corrode some parts.
I have been using the yellow , long life coolant in all equipment and have not developed any problems.Must be mixed in the proportions as directed.

So, your advice to switch from factory recommended green to yellow after full flush, right?

The Long Life coolant possibly was not available at the time the vehicle was manufactured.
You can use either coolant , just mix it with water as specified, and if the system is fairly clean, you should be OK. Just don't forget to replenish some of the older coolant as it losses some of it's corrosion protective features as it ages in use.
