E-150 replacement A/C evaporator
#14
Hi Raul,
Don't feel bad because the mechanic made a poor judgement.
Having taken many dashboards apart, they are by no means all the same.
Some have hidden screws that you almost wind up breaking pieces before you find them.
Quite a few years back I decided to do a friend a favor and replace the evap core in his 1994 ford product, not a Ford. It took me all day and he was calling to find out when it would be done. A lot of pieces are snap in plastic and care must be exercised or retaining tabs can be broken and nobody wants to go looking for plastic dash coverings.
Unless you have some idea of what is involved, it looks simple but, can be more involved than replacing an engine.
It might help accept the cost if you allowed your mechanic explain all the things he had to remove then reinstall IN THE PROPER ORDER or it will have to come apart again to install one lousy piece..
