electrical or battery related? e350 van
be nice please I'm not a mechanic...😉 But mechanics so far are stumped 🤔
2006 E350 super duty econo van. no issues in past. has 6 mo old Duracell battery.
clean terminals. cables may be issue??
Have lights and charging. go to start and clicks, gauge needles vibrate and nothing. goes dead....still clicks on going under dash.
Help we are an nonprofit animal rescue we need this van but not big expensive fix please. thanks

OK button not clickable because engine size is not selected, check my signature below to see why.
So when you turn the key to START button you can only hear click sound and there is no crank, does that mean you have a no crank no start problem?
Do you have a multimeter? Do you have jumper wires? How about a scanner?
Please keep in mind that a brand new top-of-the-line battery can go bad in 2 months, a cheap battery might last 15 years before it's dead.

Unfortunately, the expensive fix is the result of "possibly" neglected maintenance.
There is a poor connection involving the starting system. Among the possible could be, poor connections at the battery, corroded battery cables,poor/corroded connections at the power or ground connections receiving power from the battery which could have a problem receiving it's incoming charge due to high resistance (poor connection) problem. All these things are related and if either one is present , the system cannot function correctly and can result in starting problems.
Today's vehicles usually perform well with less maintenance compared to older vehicles, but still require some of that routine maintenance as listed in the owner's manual.

He had a misconception saying his battery is 6 months ago, therefore it must be in TOP-NOTCH condition.
We all know the issue on his starting circuit is probably due to bad connections or issue with starter relay or solenoid.
I asked him 4 questions he replied none of them and instead he assumed it must be the battery's fault.

It seems there may be a communication problem here.
The folks attempting to help are not providing what I believe the person with the vehicle problem is seeking answer wise.
Evidentially , we have not explained to his/her satisfaction and understanding what really needs to be done.
To begin : the battery if even 75% charged should normally provide the power required to start the engine.
From what we have been told, that battery's power can't get to where it is needed resulting with the symptoms described.
That battery power has to go through a path with all sorts of obstacles (RESISTANCE) and the starting system just can't work with that low power it is receiving.
Even with detailed written instructions it can be confusing to folks unfamiliar with troubleshooting automotive problems.
So,,,,,,,,,what are we doing wrong?
